I broke down (almost literally) my pittance of a grad school budget and bought my own iPad this summer. I was SO excited and jumped right into apps and all the hipster/nerdy things I could do with it, but in all honestly it was an expensive Facebook and Pinterest machine until this fall when I started to use it in therapy. (And, for the record, I love it!)
I see 3 school age clients in clinic right now, and they all adore using the iPad, and I can get them to do just about anything on it. Which is great…kind of….
The short story is that just tonight in clinic I was doing group therapy with a simple reinforcer app that got one of my kiddos very excited, and she began to tap the screen with all her six year old might, which sent my heart to my throat. I quickly reminded her to use “gentle fingers”….about ten times. This led to the decision that I was going to make up my own “iPad Promise”
